Breuer & Dawson: Vintage Menswear in Margate Old Town

Recommended by locals as the vintage store in the area to visit, Breuer & Dawson is set away from the main commercial high street on quiet cobbled Kings Street area. Inside it felt like I had stepped back in time to wartime Britain with red, white and blue bunting and flats loosing strung up around the interior.

Junk Deluxe: A Contempory Hidden Gem within R. G Scott’s

Hidden away in the basement of R. G Scott’s is Junk Deluxe, a re-invention of the traditional junk shop for the youth of the 21st Century. Founded by Benjamin Scott in 2006 this cool and quirky mid-century interior is far from the hectic and cluttered shop owned by his father upstairs. A surprisingly spacious room, which wouldn’t look out-of-place in a cool east London warehouse, houses a beautiful collection of retro furniture and homewears. Carefully selected individual pieces are arranged on the miss match shelves and tables throughout the shop including glass domes, index card draws and porcelain, all of which I would have loved to have had in my own home. A lovely store I will no doubt be returning too in the near future.

R.G Scott’s: An Emporium of Everything Antique, Old fashioned and Unusual

After Being Inspired by Sibella Court’s new book Bowerbird, I was excited to look up places to visit around Margate where I was off to the next day. Recommended by Elle Decoration and Tracy Emin, Scott’s Furniture Mart is an Aladdin’s cave for any budding collector and the perfect place to lose yourself in on a lazy day. Split over three floors, every inch of space is heaped with all sorts of bits and bobs from china and glass wear to picture frames and cast iron, all crammed onto huge units and filling display cases. I was in here for about two and a half hours and I could have easily spent longer but I wanted to see what else the town had to offer…I bought a little vintage tea cloth, a cut glass dish, a little tea strainer and some old photographs. I would have loved to get some of the tiny cut glass bottles but we just don’t have the shelf space at home. I took some pictures of the interior to share….I can’t wait to go back again soon!

Vintage ladders for the Home

I bought these vintage ladders at Grenwich market last weekend and they look great in the living room with magazines on and in the bedroom for shoes…

The market was a lovely place to look round on a Sunday afternoon and there was a lot of amazing old furnature and accessories for sale. Definately worth a visit!

Relaxing mid shopping lunch location in Downtown NYC

Like a peaceful oasis in the heart of the bustling city, B-Bar & Grill offered a walled garden like environment to relax and enjoy a light lunch in after a busy morning shopping in Downtown NYC. A semi, outdoor sectioned off area is scattered with garden tables and chairs and lined with hanging baskets and flower beds, a compleat contrast to the surrounding location. Lovely light food and interesting salads…recommended.

The Garage Antique Flea Market, Chelsea. NYC

A Fabulous Antiques Market in the Chelsea district of NYC and my favourite find during my time spent in New York. Set in a 2 level car park the antique market is full of everything from vintage clothing to homewear’s and furniture, all reasonably priced and exciting to browse through…

Applique – The perfect sunshine craft

I made this cute cushion cover for a family birthday last weekend and wanted to share my finished piece… I think the applique silhoutte on the linen looks lovely and a great little project for an afternoon in the sunshine.

Perfect for cat lovers too…I hope Christine likes it!
